INSEAD Young Alumni Achievement Award

After working with ING Bank and Maybank Kim Eng, Daniel Layug came to INSEAD, where the school’s mission to advance business as a force for good inspired him to launch his own social enterprise in 2018. PeoplePods is a corporate solution providing dignified, safe and affordable dormitory communities to migrant workers at the base of the pyramid in the Philippines.

The start-up has won numerous awards, including first place and the Social Impact Award at the 35th INSEAD Venture Competition, a UN Sustainable Development Goals Award at the 2018 Nudge Global Impact Challenge and the top prize at the 2017 Kellogg Real Estate Venture Competition. Layug is a Chartered Financial Analyst and holds a bachelor’s degree in finance and Chinese studies from Georgetown University.

“Thank you to the alumni community for selecting me to bear the standard of INSEAD. Hearing the success stories of INSEAD entrepreneurs was part of what inspired me to become an entrepreneur. This recognition further empowers us to use PeoplePods as a force for good.”
